Carlie Steiner

Carlie Steiner is a D.C.-based, internationally-recognized hospitality professional who has made both Forbes’ 30 Under 30 and Zagat’s 30 Under 30 lists. Steiner opened her first restaurant, Himitsu in 2016. The cheerful, Japanese-inspired eatery that was one of Bon Appetit’s “Best New Restaurants” in 2017 that features the inventive cocktails Steiner is known for.

After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Steiner landed her first industry job at the cutting edge cocktail bar, barmini by José Andrés in TK year. Finding her professional footing behind the bar, Steiner started Stir Bartending Co. in January 2015. The consulting company curated cocktails for private events and offered classes and workshops as a way of exposing more Washingtonians to Steiner’s unique perspective and personality. Steiner was also tapped by Petworth Citizen, Indique, Timber Pizza Co., and Bullfrog Bagels to create and install memorable beverage programs. Ever creative, Steiner has crafted cocktails on themes spanning from Mean Girls to politics to Stranger Things. More recently, Steiner has worked to expand her portfolio beyond cocktails, earning her level one certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers. She’s zeroed in on natural, biodynamic wines as well as wines produced by female winemakers. As Steiner's career progresses, she'll continue to combine her background in cooking with her knowledge of beverages to produce memorable and avant-garde experiences.

Anna Bran Leis

Anna, a native Guatemalan raised in Maryland, has traveled extensively throughout Europe and LatinAmerica while exploring the complex cuisines and flavors of various cultures. Anna has ten years of culinaryexperience, and with her husband Shawn, is the owner and chef of DC Empanadas and Taqueria del Barrio.DC Empanadas food truck was one of the first generation of proper DC food trucks and it quickly gained aloyal following which continues to this day. It has even expanded beyond the truck into a physical location inUnion Market. Taqueria del Barrio is her first brick and mortar restaurant, which is a culmination of herpassion, hard work and love of all things bold and flavorful. On a personal note, Anna is a cancer survivorwho discovered Whole 30 during her treatment and credits it with helping in her recovery process. This leadher to open an extremely successful Paleo food kitchen as well. With multiple rewarding businesses underher belt, Bran-Leis is looking to expand the Taqueria del Barrio brand. DC better watch out for this Latina,cuz she comin’ for ya!
